Individual Counselling

Couples Counselling

I have practiced counselling and psychotherapy for more than 30 years and work with both individuals and couples. My social work background has always informed my work, and I have trained in a variety of modalities including psychodynamic, relational, existential, cognitive and feminist therapy. I am certified in Applied Positive Psychology and am also a Life Coach. I have a conversational style and believe that a strong trusting relationship between clients and their therapist is essential to growth and healing. I provide both long term and short-term counselling, depending on the needs and goals of my clients. In my practice I have worked with people dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, loss and grief, and many other challenges. I spent years working in the areas of violence against women, abuse and neglect, and I understand how these issues impact the lives of individuals and couples.

Psychotherapy provides you a place to be heard, explore issues, create stability and make change amid life’s challenges. Therapy allows you an opportunity to learn about yourself and use this knowledge to make choices about how you respond to and interact with the world. Whether you’re facing a crisis in your life or relationship, or experiencing longstanding, ongoing emotional distress, I provide a safe and supportive environment for exploration and healing, growth and change. I offer individuals and couples, LGBTQ or heterosexual, who are struggling and/or seeking growth, a safe and supportive environment for exploration and healing, growth and change.

We all develop different coping mechanisms when faced with life’s challenges, yet some of those strategies can get in the way of living our best lives. I am relational, honest, and pretty down to earth, and will work to help you show up in the world the way you want.
