With a genuine ability to connect with others, I bring compassion, honesty, intuition and humour to my work. I fundamentally believe in everyone’s ability to heal, change, grow, and overcome obstacles in order to show up in the world the way they want. I work collaboratively and respectfully with my clients, utilizing dialogue and providing feedback, support and encouragement.
With a background in education, social work, psychology, and coaching, I understand the various ways that people are motivated to change. I bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and skills to assist my clients in reaching their fullest potential. Throughout my career, I have promoted growth and development, healing and change.
I received a B.Sc. in Social Studies Education in 1981 at the University of Wisconsin, and a Master’s in Social Work (M.S.W.) from Yeshiva University in New York City in 1986. I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and am certified in Applied Positive Psychology and Positive Psychology Coaching through the Flourishing Centre in NYC. For more than 30 years I have worked with individuals, couples, and groups, and have provided training, workshops, and professional development to social service agencies, professionals, health professions regulatory colleges in Ontario, the professionals in the governments of Toronto and Ontario, and University staff members.
I grew up in Minnesota, and have lived in Wisconsin, New York City, and Jerusalem, although Toronto has been home for more than three decades. I am a breast cancer survivor and know how much every day matters. I have a passion for theatre (as an audience member!) and helped found a youth theatre company where I am still actively involved. I live in downtown Toronto with my wonderful partner and our dog. Together we raised two amazing children who are now (or soon-to-be) actors!
